3 new laws updating status of schools inked

President Rodrigo R. Duterte has signed three new laws updating the status of schools in Camarines Sur, Davao Occidental, and Mountain Province.
Duterte signed Republic Act (RA) No. 11762 changing the name of Pinaglabanan High School in Barangay Pinaglabanan, Municipality of Goa, Province of Camarines Sur to Pinaglabanan National High School.
Under RA 11762, the main campus of the Pinaglabanan National High School will continue to remain in its present location in Barangay Pinaglbanan, Municipality of Goa, Province of Camarines Sur.
He also inked RA 11763, an act converting the Molmol Elementary School in Barangay Molmol, Municipality of Jose Abad Santos, Province of Davao Occidental into an integrated school to be known as the Mariano Anoy Sangay Integrated School.
Under the law, all personnel, assets, liabilities, and records of the Molmol Elementary School will be transferred to and absorbed by the Mariano Anoy Sangay Integrated School.
The Secretary of Education must immediately include in the Department's program the operationalization of the Mariano Anoy Sangay Integrated School, the funding of which will be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.
The DepEd Secretary must also promulgate the rules and regulations implementing the provisions of RA 11763 within 60 days after the approval of the law.
Duterte also signed RA 11764, an act changing the name of Salin Elementary School in Barangay Sadsadan, Municipality of Bauko, Mountain Province to Talban P. Bitayan Elementary School.
RA 11762, which originated in the House of Representatives, was passed by the House on Aug. 25, 2021, amended by the Senate on Dec. 13, 2021 and which amendments were concurred in by the House on Jan. 24, 2022.
RA 11763, which originated in the House, was passed by the House and Senate on Nov. 8, 2021 and January 31, 2022, respectively.
RA 11764, which originated in the House, was passed by the House and Senate on Nov. 23, 2021 and January 31, 2022, respectively.
Duterte signed all laws on April 29, 2022. (PNA)
