Education Secretary Leonor Briones highlighted how the country has responded to several educational challenges, in her talk at this year’s Education World Forum (EWF) in the United Kingdom on Tuesday.
In a Facebook update posted by the Department of Education (DepEd), the department showed a video presentation detailing educational struggles in the Philippines, including the lack of access to education, as well as the steps taken to address them.
“One of these is the response of the department to lack of access to education in other areas in the country through building education facilities,” the DepEd chief said in Filipino.
Briones’ talk during the plenary session focused on the equity and resources of basic education in the Philippines.
Other relevant points, meanwhile, were also tackled including education’s impact on the country’s economic growth, resilience, emotional learning, and education for girls, among others.
Earlier, Briones said the forum will advance wider opportunities and partnerships for Filipino learners.
"We are here so we can share our collective experiences and we are looking forward to helping each other and being a part of the discussion," she said.
The DepEd said some 125 representatives and education ministers are joining the 2022 EWF. (PNA)
